The third edition of ‘Economy of the Sea 2024‘, organised by the 24 Ore Group, will be held on 4 and 5 July at the Genoa Aquarium. The event, dedicated to the boating industry, brings institutions and companies together to analyse the current situation and future prospects, also in the light of sustainability and the energy transition.

The first day, Thursday 4 July, will be devoted to cruise tourism, yachting, exports and training. With 13 million passengers landing in Italian ports in 2023 and with growth prospects for 2024, cruise tourism confirms itself as a winning asset of our country’s economy. In addition to being the first destination country, Italy is also the one where there is the greatest economic impact, with EUR 15 billion out of the 60 generated in Europe by the cruise world, and employment. And that’s not all: the plus sign also characterised 2023 in the yachting sector, which recorded a record year for turnover, exports and employment. A positive trend that can only continue to grow if information is invested.

Among the speakers on the first day will be FIT President, Massimo Marciani, who will speak during the session ‘Cruise tourism: the boom after the pandemic, now the challenge is passenger logistics‘, scheduled at 6 p.m. and moderated by Filomena Greco, Journalist Il Sole 24 Ore. In addition to Marciani, Laura Cimaglia, Director of General and International Affairs of the Ionian Sea Port Authority and member of Wista Italy, also spoke.
