Green Logistics Expo 2024, three days of innovation and collaboration in Padova with FIT and OLF
It is always nice to remember such special occasions as the third edition of the Green Logistics Expo, which was held in Padova, Italy, October 9-11, 2024. For three days, this B2B event brought together leaders in sustainable logistics to explore innovations that will transform the industry, in Italy and around the world. FIT also played a prominent role along with the Open Logistics Foundation (OLF), with a packed program of discussions and thematic sessions.
FIT and Open Logistics Foundation have shared not only a booth, but also a common vision on more sustainable and digital logistics. In fact, FIT and OLF signed a memorandum of understanding to promote open source in Italy as a tool to make the supply chain more efficient and sustainable, while facilitating the decarbonization of the sector. This close collaboration was further strengthened with the joint session “The New Frontiers of Logistics between Open Logistics and Physical Internet,” Paola Cossu, CEO of FIT, and Thorsten Huelsmann, CFO of OLF, presented the perspectives of Physical Internet and digital sharing as tools for more efficient and environmentally friendly logistics. One of the most heartfelt themes of the event was the decarbonization of last-mile logistics, covered in the Oct. 9 session devoted to the European GRETA project. Here, Paola Cossu presented the DISCO project, coordinated by FIT, sharing ideas for more sustainable urban logistics.
On Oct. 10, it was the turn of the session “The Future of Logistics in Italy,” where transparency, collaboration and ethics were discussed as the pillars for positive change. Massimo Marciani, FIT president, moderated the discussion, delving into the importance of these values for the transformation of the sector.
The event concluded with a highlight dedicated to 20 years of Cityporto Padova. During a panel discussion with the pioneers of the project, moderated by FIT President Massimo Marciani, the history of this initiative, which represents a virtuous model for sustainable urban distribution, was retraced. On this occasion, Paola Cossu and Massimo Marciani were honored for their valuable contribution to the Cityporto project, inspired by the European project Mosca, in which the city of Padua and Padua Interporto were both key partners.
