Florence pushes sustainable mobility
The city of Florence confirms its leading role in its commitment to sustainable mobility thanks to the “Ti porta Firenze!” campaign, promoted by the city administration. The initiative, designed to incentivize the use of public transportation (bus, tramway and urban rail routes), is aimed at high school students, new users and longstanding subscribers, and has been met with wide support from citizens.
To date, as many as 10,908 subscriptions have been taken out, including 6,479 from students, 1,955 from new users, and 2,474 from historical subscribers. Among the latter, many have chosen to renew after last year’s positive experience.
“The extraordinary response to this initiative shows how strongly the issue of sustainable mobility is felt. With the TPL Bonus and the new free bike share initiative for subscribers, we are incentivizing solutions that not only facilitate travel but also help reduce traffic and pollution in the city,” said Mobility Councillor Andrea Giorgio.
Promoting integrated and sustainable mobility is a strategic goal for the future of Florence. Initiatives such as this one aim to reduce the environmental impact of urban transportation by promoting intermodality and offering citizens practical, economical, and environmentally friendly alternatives.
Florence is thus committed to building a more livable city in which getting around sustainably becomes not just a choice, but a habit.
