Maas, the Piedmont Region starts ‘MaaS for Piedmont’ experimentation

The MaaS for Piemonte trial has officially started , a project funded by the national MaaSforItaly program of the PNRR involving the Piedmont Region in collaboration with the subsidiary 5T . The project aims to promote an innovative approach to mobility, capable of offering Piedmont citizens simpler, more flexible and sustainable solutions thanks to the integration of different public and private transport services in a single digital platform capable of improving the overall mobility experience. With MaaS for Piemonte, in fact, the regional administration wants to dialogue with local public transport service operators, shared mobility service operators, MaaS digital operators and citizens in a participatory process, with the aim of accompanying the process of digital transformation of mobility in the territory.
Collaboration between the public and private sectors represents a key factor for the success of this initiative .

“In the first months of activity – reads the press release issued by 5T -, 6 public transport companies and 5 MaaS operators were successfully involved, creating a solid basis for the integration of digital mobility services. This joint commitment aims to guarantee users greater freedom of movement and increasingly interconnected transport solutions”.

Starting this autumn, therefore, Piedmont citizens will be able to experience the new MaaS services through dedicated “super apps”, which will allow them to plan, book and pay for multimodal trips, integrating different modes of transport: trains, buses, taxis, scooters and shared bicycles. Particular attention will be paid to public and rail transport, to improve connections between cities and the main attractions of the region. The use of super apps will be encouraged by the offer of services such as welcome bonuses and cashback .

MaaS for Piemonte will also work in close synergy with the MaaS ToMove project of the City of Turin (we talked about it here), also launched within the national MaaSforItaly program, standing out for its inclusive approach, which aims to cover the entire regional territory, including extra-urban and rural areas. With the introduction of the MaaS model, the Piedmont Region aims to improve accessibility to transport, encourage the adoption of sustainable mobility solutions and reduce the use of private cars.

The initiative also aims to reduce polluting emissions and improve the quality of life of citizens, encouraging more efficient and environmentally friendly mobility. Citizens interested in participating in the experiment and exploring the opportunities offered by MaaS for Piemonte can sign up and stay updated by consulting the dedicated web page.
